1. Coordinator (Peatland Programme) (PJ)
Duty Station: Petaling Jaya
Responsibility of Position:
- Develop and coordinate implementation of projects related to forest and peatland assessment and management and /or Climate change mitigation and adaptation,
- To provide technical guidance for active project activities at local, regional and global level related to forest and wetlands (particularly peatlands and mangroves), biodiversity, and climate change.
- Develop partnerships with government agencies, private sector and community groups in Malaysia and other countries in the Asia Pacific region.
- Participate in regional and international conferences and meetings
- Develop proposals for funding by international agencies
Job Requirements:
- Self-motivated and able to work both as a team member and independently Minimum Bachelor Degree in Environment, Forestry, Conservation Biology or Natural Resource Management (MSc preferred).
- Minimum 5-10 years of relevant working experience.
- Good knowledge of forest, biodiversity, climate change issues and/or peatland management an added advantage.
- Proven record of project management and coordination is required.
- Ability to provide technical training.
- Project management and report writing
- Good technical and report writing skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Fluency in other languages will be an added advantage.
- Competency in computer and internet use.
- Willingness to travel.
- Good PR and coordination skills.
- Malaysian citizens only.
2. Technical Officer (Peatland Programme) (PJ)
Duty Station: Petaling Jaya
Responsibility of Position:
- Involvement in the implementation of a range of existing projects
- Undertaking project activities such as studies, awareness programmes, workshops, networking and information exchange
- Providing input to technical and management reports
- Working with partner agencies in Malaysia and overseas
- Working on aspects of field projects in Malaysia and overseas
- Contribute to other elements of the Peatland Programme as appropriate
- Input to development of new projects and activities
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Environmental, Natural Resource Management or Soil Science.
- Knowledge in GIS and remote sensing is an added advantage.
- Experience in forest, water resources or peatland management and biodiversity or climate change issues
- Fluent in English with good writing skills
- Experienced in computer and internet use
- Minimum 2-5 years relevant working experience
- Experience in multidisciplinary teams an advantage
- Experience in awareness and information exchange
- Willingness to travel
- Malaysian citizens only.
3. Programme Officer – Data Development cum Administration (Peatland/Outreach & Partnership Programme)
Duty Station: Petaling Jaya
Responsibility of Position:
To provide support for information exchange and networking activities of different programmes including:
- Supporting implementation of projects related to networking and information exchange; environmental management and community involvement
- Searching for information online and assisting in maintaining and updating web sites
- Maintaining library and photo reference collections
- Facilitating electronic discussion groups
- Gathering and dissemination information and data
- Involvement in awareness and education activities
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Environment/Natural Resources or Information Management
- High degree of competency in computer and internet use
- Fluent in English with good writing skills
- Minimum 1-3 years relevant working experience particularly in IT work
- Knowledge of forest, water resources or peatland management and biodiversity or climate change issues an advantage
- Experience in information exchange, networking and database.
- Self motivated and able to work independently
- Malaysian citizens only.
